Astrological Chart and Horoscope
I found this on a French website, http://www.astrotheme.fr/   They have an English Version, but the French version is much
more detailed, I know nothing about Astrology, but it may be fun to read.   The chart has an extensive explanation of
Astrology. So I made the parts specifically about Andre blue. Martine was kind enough to do the translation of the French
part for us.

Personality of André RIEU
                                              Introduction

Here are some character traits from André Rieu's birth chart. This description is far
from complete but can shed some light on his personality which may be interesting
for his fans or lovers of astrology.

Note: His birth time is unknown, so the chart is drawn for 12 pm - the astrological
houses are not taken into account, this extract of astrological profile is therefor less
detailed than the ones with a known birth time.

                      The dominant planets of André
When interpreting a birth chart, the best method is to start gradually from the
general features to the specific ones. Thus, there is usually a plan to follow; from
the global analysis of the chart and it's structure, to the description of the different
character traits.

Firstly, the global analysis of the chart enables us to define the main personality
features and emphasize some points that are confirmed or not in the detailed
analysis: Be that as it may, those general traits will have to be taken into account.
A human personality is an infinitely complex entity to describe and wanting to sum
it up in a short way is illusionary, but that does not mean it's an impossible
challenge. Reading a birth chart several times is essential in order to soak up the
different meanings and to grasp all this complexity. But the game is worth the
gamble.

The birth chart is diagrammatically composed of ten planets: Luminaries: Sun and
Moon, three fast moving or individual planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, two slow
moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn, and three very slow moving planets, Uranus,
Neptune and Pluto. Other parts of the charts are: the secondary elements (Lunar
Nodes, the Dark Moon or Lilith, Chiron and other asteroids such as Vesta, Pallas,
Ceres or Juno, particular bodies like the Arabic Parts, Vertex, the Black Sun,
hypothetical planets, etc.) and 12 astrological houses, all positioned in a zodiac
consisting of 12 signs from Aries to Pisces.

The importance of each planet must at first be estimated, that's what we call the
search for the dominant planets. This search obeys rules that depend on the
astrologer's sensitivity and experience but they also have a strong and clear
basis:Mid heaven can take into account the parameters of a planet activity (the
number of active aspects concerning a planet, the importance of each aspect
depending on its nature and its accuracy), the parameters of angularity (the
proximity to the 4 angles, Ascendant, Mid heaven, Descendant and Immum Coeli
or Nadir, all of this is evaluated numerically according to the nature of the angle
and the space between the latter and the planet) and the parameters of quality
(ruler ship, exaltation, exile and fall). Finally, other criteria such as the ruler ship of
the Ascendant and the Mid heaven etc are important.

This different criteria allows some planets to be polarised and leads to useful
conclusions when interpreting the chart.

The global analysis of the chart begins by observing 3 planet distributions in the
map: Eastern hemisphere, Northern or Southern hemisphere, and quadrants
(North-eastern, North-western, South-eastern and South-western). These 3
distributions give a general tone in terms of introversion and extroversion, of
willpower and sociability and of certain behavioral predispositions.

We then have 3 other distributions: the elements (called triplicity since there are 3
groups of signs for each one) - Fire, Air, Earth and Water - corresponding to a
character typology, modality (or quadruplicity with 4 groups of signs for each one) -
Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable - and polarity (Yin and Yang).

There are then 3 types of dominants: Dominant planets, dominant signs and
dominant houses. The novice thinks astrology just means "to be Aries" or
sometimes, for example, "to be Aries Ascendant Virgo". It is actually far more
complex. The Sun and the Ascendant themselves alone can indeed reveal a big
part of the character- between around 30 and 60% according to the chart, however
a person is neither "just the Sun" (what is called the sign) nor just "the first house"
(the Ascendant). Thus, the influence of a particular planet can be greatly increased;
a particular sign or house can contain a group of planets that will bring nuances
and sometimes weaken the role of the Ascendant, the Sun sign etc.

Lastly, two other criteria; the accentuations (angular, succedent and cadent) which
are a classification of the astrological houses and the types of decants that are
occupied (each sign is divided into three decants of 10° each), will add some
informations in this first general part.

These eleven (or six if the birth time is unknown) general character traits must not
be taken literally; they are, in a way, preparing for the reading of the chart. They
allow an understanding of the second part of the analysis which is more detailed
and accurate and focuses on each personality aspects by establishing a hierarchy
of planets, signs, houses and aspects.

Warning: When the birth time is unknown, which is the case for André, a certain
number of paragraphs cannot be dealt; the distributions in hemispheres and
quadrants are meaningless, so are the dominant houses and the houses
accentuations. Therefore, some chapters are removed from this part.

For all paragraphs, the criteria for polarisation are calculated without the angles,
the ruler ship of the Ascendant and the Mid heaven. The calculation method is still
valid, but it is less precise without the birth time.

Up with communication and mobility, André! The predominance of Air signs in your
chart favours and amplifies your taste for relations with people and all kinds of
short trips, whether real (travels) or symbolic (new ideas, mind speculations). What
you gain in flexibility and adaptability, you lose in self assertion or sense of the
concrete.

André, The Fire is dominant in your birth chart and makes you intuitive, energetic,
courageous, self-confident and enthusiastic! You are passionately inclined and are
able to assert your willpower, to go forward and ride against the tide, to reach your
goals and your dreams. The relative weakness of this element is a kind of boldness
and rashness that sometimes makes it difficult for you to stand back.

The 12 zodiac signs are split up into three groups or modes, called quadruplicities,
a clever name that simply means these three groups contain four signs. The
Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable modes are more or less represented in your birth
chart, according to the presence and importance of the planets and angles in the
twelve signs.

The Cardinal mode is dominant here and is indicative of a predisposition for action,
and more exactly for impulsion and ability to undertake: you set your heart on
starting the plans you have in mind, on getting things going, on creating them. This
is the most important aspect that inspires enthusiasm and adrenalin in you, without
which you can grow weary rapidly. You are rather individualistic (maybe too
much?) and confident and let others consolidate and make happen the
constructions you have built with fervour.

The twelve signs are divided into two polarities, called active or passive, or
sometimes masculine and feminine, positive and negative, Yang and Yin. This
classification corresponds to two quite distinct tonalities, the first one bringing
extroversion, action, confidence and dynamism, the second one, introversion,
reactivity, reflection and carefulness. One is not superior to the other, each group
has its own assets and shortcomings. The odd signs - Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra,
Sagittarius and Aquarius - belong to the first group, whereas the even signs -
Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces - belong to the second one

According to the disposition and qualities of your planets and angles, you're rather
influenced by the YANG energy, the active polarity: more concerned by your
actions than reflection, you sometimes rush without standing back and favoring
depth which is yet necessary. However, your spontaneity prompts you to take fresh
starts, even after repeated failures caused by your rashness.

Each sign contains 30 degrees and can be divided into three equal parts: the
decants. Tradition indicates that some meanings can be associated to these three
decants. Their sphere of activity is usually limited to the Sun sign, it is however
even more interesting to observe the distribution of all the planets in the chart to
get an idea of the respective importance of the three decants which can
complement the description of the personality.

These significances must be taken into account with the greatest caution, this is
indeed all about minor characteristics that can only stress other outstanding traits
of character.

Traditionally, the first decant accentuates the characteristics of the sign when a
planet is located in it. The two other decants correspond to sub-dominant planets
depending on the nature of each sign. This system leads to a multiplication of
meanings and it is impossible to have a clear understanding: we prefer to give here
just the meaning of one decant in comparison with the other two, in the birth chart
as a whole. Again, the greatest caution is needed with regard to this minor
indication which is not always reliable.

The second decant, that's to say the part between 10 and 20° of the zodiac signs, is
the majority in your birth chart: these 10 zodiacal degrees emphasize logical
thought, the values of mind. Therefore you could be attracted to some kind of
scientific activities, research, writing or any sort of expression where you have to...
think a lot.

Dominants: planets, signs and houses for André
The issue with the dominant planets has existed since the mists of time in
astrology: rulerships and it would be to describe a person in some words by one or
several planets simply representing their character without having to analyse all
the aspects such as rulerships, angularities, houses etc!    Planets - from the Sun to
Pluto - are a bit like 10 characters from a role play, each one with its own
personality, its own way of acting, its own strengths and weaknesses. They actually
represent a classification in 10 distinct personalities and astrologers have always
tried to associate one or several dominant planets to a birth chart as well as
dominant signs and houses.

Indeed, it is somewhat the same with the signs and the houses. If the planets
symbolize characters, the signs represent "colorations"- the mental, emotional and
physical structures of an individual. Each planet in sign is like a character whose
features would be modified according to the place he lives. In a chart, there are
usually one, two or three significant signs making it easier to rapidly describe its
owner.

As for the astrological houses, the idea is even simpler: the 12 houses correspond
to 12 fields of life and the planets occupying some of them will increase their
importance and bring out some spheres of life:   marriage, work, social life, etc.

The three most important planets in your chart are Mercury, Moon and Mars.

With Mercury as a dominant planet, you are certainly intellectual, nervous, quick,
curious, lively-spirited, and love to communicate. Your psychological pattern is
mental, and all the more so since Mercury is important, bringing with it assets but
also weaknesses, obviously.

Your sensitivity, emotions, heart's outbursts come after reflection, which can lead
people to think you're a playful and witty but heartless person, intellectualising
situations and juggling with words and numbers whilst ignoring the human aspect
of things. Of course, they say the cat always lands on its feet - this is your
Mercurial strength and your best asset! Thinking less lies in your nervousness and
it happens that sometimes you miss your goal by "thinking" too much. You could
forget other kind of energies such as instinct, spontaneity, heart, sensitivity, etc.

The Moon is one of the most important planets in your chart and endows you with a
receptive, emotive and imaginative nature. You have this innate ability to
instinctively soak up atmospheres and impressions that nurture you, and as a
result, you're often dreaming your life rather than actually living it.

One of the consequences of this spontaneity can sometimes turn into popularity, or
even celebrity: the living and complex entity that is the crowd always appreciates
truth and sincerity rather than calculation and perfect self-control.

As a Lunar character, you find it difficult to control yourself, you have to deal with
your moods and to take care not to stay passive in front of events: nothing is served
on a platter, and although your sensitivity is rich, even richer than most people's, it
is up to you to shift yourself and save your energy for... action!

Mars is one of your dominant planets and provides you with its effective energy
and enthusiasm: with a powerful Mars in your chart, action - but also the will and
ability to act - is not a vain word for you. You are active, dynamic, willing to fight,
courageous and beating every obstacle in your path does not scare you. Although
risks are part of the adventures that you start with determination.

However, your patience is not always up to your boldness and a kind of futility or
even anger can tarnish the quality of your achievements. That would be a pity since
the Martian is a champion in matters of efficiency! Mars symbolizes the display of
action, the spirit of conquest that favours discipline and order - beware of not being
fussy - and lies at the frontier between action and brutality, between conquest and
a potential aggressiveness.

In your birth chart, the three most important signs - according to criteria mentioned
above - are in order Libra, Leo and Aqua. Generally, these signs are important
because your Ascendant or Sun is located in them. But this is not always the case:
a pile of planets can be located in them, or a planet near an angle other than the
Mid heaven or Ascendant, when it's not simply because two or three planets are
very active by the numerous aspects they make from these signs.

You will thus borrow some of the characteristics of these three signs, a bit like a
superposition of features on the rest of your chart, and this all the more if the sign
is polarized.

With Libra as a dominant sign in your birth chart, you love to please, to charm, to
be likeable. Moreover you're naturally inclined towards tolerance and moderation,
towards elegance and tact, as if you were made to please! Of course, you'll always
come across malcontents who will reproach your lack of authenticity or courage
and your halfheartedness but your aim is to be liked and in this field you're an
unrivalled champion!

With Leo as a dominant sign, you naturally shine brightly and your dignity, sense of
honor and generosity could almost make you pass for a solar hero from mythology,
a knight or a lord from remote times. Some blame you for your selfishness, your
pride or your somewhat showy authority, but if you're self-confident, kind-hearted
and strong-willed, it surely makes up for your little flaws as long as they remain
moderate...

Aquarius is one of the most important signs in your birth chart: it gives your
personality - at least one of its facets - originality to the point of eccentricity in spite
of a sometimes distant and humane side. Likeable and impassive at the same time,
you are a paradoxical man, very hard to define because the two planets Uranus
and Saturn are meshed up to create the so complicated and engaging sign that
inspires your character. Saturn's seriousness and impassivity verge on the
rebellious Uranus who is talented, individualistic, charismatic, extravagant and
never predictable! One of your essential characteristics is that you never give
yourself away on a personal scale, but you tend to open up easily in public. You're
actually quite strange. Sexy and charming in public, despite your nice and sociable
character, you could frustrate many of your admirers in private because of your

Libra ascendant Sagittarius Sun - Successful career is guaranteed, but may
sometimes come late.
Trine Sun - Moon He has lots of vitality. He likes public life, he is popular and his
company is appreciated. He is balanced, at ease with himself and gets on well with
his Parents.
Conjunction Sun - Mercury He is intelligent and knows what he wants. Is a good
organizer, he likes moving, travel. He likes literature.
Square Sun - Uranus His independence and need for liberty are all-important. He

Trine Moon - Mercury He has good judgement, a good memory. He is intelligent,

Sextile Moon - Ascendant He has a good influence on the family, which loves and
helps the person. He likes travelling, movement, change. He likes contact and is
open to other people.

Mercury represents communication, Cartesian and logical spirit.
Mercury in Libra With big ideas, he evaluates and weighs things up. Of good
judgement, he expresses himself clearly. Before coming to an opinion on a subject,
he listens to the opinions offered by various people and can compare them before
making up his own mind.
Weaknesses: he is happy-go-lucky and phlegmatic. The spouse can be unfaithful.

Mercury in X His home and comfort are the only things important for him. He is

Saturn in IX He is studious, patient, rigorous, austere. He likes reflection,
meditation. He carries out all the plans he makes. He is a stay-at-home.

Uranus represents individual liberty, egoistic liberty.
Uranus in Cancer He is impressionable, ticklish and excitable.
Uranus in VII His independence does not tolerate marriage very well. If he does
marry, he has little chance of finishing his days with the spouse, unless the partner
gives him complete freedom and accepts him.

Neptune represents transcendental liberty, non-egoistic liberty.

Pluto represents transformations, mutations and elimination.

House I is the area of self identity. The ascendant is a symbol of how one acts in
life. It is the image of the personality as seen by other, and the attitude that one has
of life.

Libra ascendant Sagittarius He will have an intellectual profession. Teaching,
research, philosophy, mathematics. Children will be a source of happiness and
pride.

House II is the area of material security.
House II in Capricorn Success in professional life will be long and laborious.
Continuously working towards it, he will finally achieve universally acknowledged
success.

House III is the area of social and intellectual learning.
House III in Aquarius He is always at the forefront of progress. Likes everything that
is new, original and ingenious. Likes every new idea, as long as it improves life
and naturally is good for everyone. He is happy to travel even at a moment's notice,
likes a life full of change and meetings.

House IV is the area of action and emotion.
House IV in Aries Lots of authority within the family. He knows how to take the
destiny of the family in hand. He is very energetic, very strong, knowing how to
cope with life's setbacks.

House V is the area of self-security.
House V in Aries Full of initiative. Things are done to the full, with energy, vigor
and strength of purpose: It is the same with love life. Children will be hardy and
rarely ill.

House VI is the area of learning by material transaction.
House VI in Taurus Completely trusted at work. Knows how to keep a secret and is
of irreproachable honesty. Weak point: the throat.

House VII is the area of social et intellectual action.
House VII in Gemini Marries quite young, and divorces later. A second marriage
doubtless with less passion but a lot of friendship. Frightened of living alone in old
age.

House VIII is the area of emotional security and of security of the soul.
House VIII in Cancer Small inheritances.

House IX is the area of learning that shapes the identity.
House IX in Leo He is tolerant, accepts all differences and respects them. He is
honest and loyal.

House X is the area of material action. The Mid-heaven represents the work one
will do in his life, the place one will take in the world of society. It becomes more
important as one grows older
House X in Libra Contacts of all kinds will lead to social success, professional,
through marriage etc... Likes society life, friendships that could help professionally.
Sometimes jobs connected with justice, but always involved with important and
influential people.

House XI is the area of search for social and intellectual security.
House XI in Libra Looks for friends among well-placed; people, artists known even
regionally, influential people in society, the social or political world, likes high
class evenings.

House XII is the area of education and of emotion.
House XII in Scorpio Work in the police field, likes investigating other people's
private lives.
