JOSTI BAND

TV broadcast December 24th NL 1, Dutch TV.

At the night of December 24th a program will be broadcast on the occasion of the 40th years existence of the
Jostiband. At the same time the founder of this band: Wim Brussen will take leave of the band, after 40 years.
He will be the special guest of this program.

The Jostiband started in 1966 as an orchestra of mentally disabled people from the Johannes (JO) Stichting (STI)  (=
institution) in Nieuwveen (= town). The orchestra consists of 200 members. During all those years, they confirmed
their integration in Dutch society.
In 2002 they gave an Orange Concert in presence of Queen Beatrix of Holland in Ahoy (= big concert hall in
Rotterdam). In 2000 they visited Canada for a successful Christmas concert. In 1999  the well known Dutch singer
Frans Bauer performed with the band in the Concert Building in Amsterdam.

The TV show will be filled with music and flash backs. At the end of the show the biggest wish of Wim Brussen will
come true: to perform together with the big orchestra of Andre Rieu. They will play together a Strauss medley and
end up with the great finale: Ode to Joy (All men will be brothers) of Ludwig von Beethoven.

Jos Brink will be the presentor of the show. Next to him will be seated on the sofa:
Frans Bauer, Willeke Alberti, Jochem van Gelder, who will tell about their experiences to perform with the Jostiband.

I just heard that Frederic Jenniges will be touring with Andre next year.   Frederic toured with Andre before.  He was
in Andre's US tour in 1997.  On the concerts page I have a 1997 concert description with pictures of Frederic
Jenniges.   Of course he was with Andre in Vienna and is delightful.  His Third man on the zither is amazing.  I will
enjoy seeing him again.  I was told that he had been very ill for many years but is now doing better.

I also heard that on January 5 the first episode of Andre's real life soap will be on Dutch Television.  I hope to be able
to have a translation of it posted quickly.

HILVERSUM - Jan Smit en Frans Bauer both have one, and now André Rieu will get one too: a 'reallifesoap'. Starting
January 5 the viewer can watch the adventures of Limburg's violin virtuoso in a TROS-serie 'Andre Rieu on route to
New York.  In a six-part 'road soap' the whole story of his America-adventure will be broadcast.

Rieu and his company are followed during there American Tour in 2006.   In the series they work towards the high
point:  the concert of Andre Rieu and his orchestra in Radio City Music Hall in New York.   In 2007 Rieu has
planned four tours in the US and Canada.

I also heard from someone who visited Andre's studio that so far neither Carla nor Suzan have signed
another contract.  Looks like it were indeed Farewell pictures in Salt Lake City.

From the Limburger.

André Rieu opens an office in New York in September. Due to his success in
the United States, his Maastricht base can  no longer be the ' basis '  from which matters are regulated.  "It is a
combination of necessity and pure need '', says Kerstin Cornelis,  tour manager and press coordinator for André Rieu
Productions. "From New York can we improve and  anticipate on the popularity of André in America. Then you must
think  of marketing, financial matters and contacts  ''. One of the employees Mr Roel van Veggel of André Rieu
Productions will man the office in New York for the next three years. After the three nearly sold out Vrijthof concerts
on 14,  15 and 16 July, Rieu will travel to New York. On 29 July he perform a concert in the famous Radio City Music
hall, which will be taped and will later be brought out on DVD and on TV. In October, November and December he will
give several concerts in America and Canada.

During an interview with the Mexican magazine 'Terra"
The interview was in Spanish and Ari Bussemaker was kind enough to tell me what it said.  It is not a translation but
a short interpretation of the interview.
It seems Andre was in Mexico on March 1.   At the end of the interview it says that they working on preparations for a
concert in Mexico.

Andre: We are preparing for a concert in the "Auditorio Nacional" for the month of May. (2008?).   I will be wonderful
to perform in Mexico and I will bring my whole orchestra.

The article also states that they are promoting his CD's in Argentina, Chili and Brazil.   (As we can tell from his
guestbook there are many more messages in Spanish and Portuguese.
The article also says that Andre would like to perform with Pavarotti.
He says Pavarotti has given him the idea to perform in the large halls
in the US with his orchestra.  "If he can do it, so can I"
